You changed the input variable.
Why is the old one still there?
An input can leave you with names like variableEditBoxNum_1 and variableEditBoxStr_1, even after you choose another variable. Repeat that across a course and the list gets hard to manage.
The cleaner shows where those variables are connected, helps you rename them, and lets you remove leftovers from a new copy of your course.
Which files can I use?
This tool works with .cpt files from Captivate 12 and later. Some versions are still being tested; you’ll see a note when that applies. Captivate Classic .cptx files aren’t supported. Always open and preview your updated copy in Captivate before publishing.

Captivate manages these. You can see where they’re used, but you can’t rename or delete them here.
“No use found” means the cleaner didn’t find a use it recognizes. Check your downloaded course in Captivate Preview before publishing.
